”Can we go see our new house?” I hear these words from Sol at least once a day. I guess when you’re building a house that is within a short bike-ride distance from your current home, it’s a small request to oblige for a three-year old’s thrill. Although it still has a ways to go, I can already see the kids playing soccer in the back yard while I look through the kitchen window as I slide hot chocolate chip cookies, one at a time, from my spatula to the cooling rack on our new, tropical-brown colored granite countertop. “snack time,” I yell, as I ring my little bell through a crack in the gridded sliding glass door. the kids look at each other: “Cookies!” and run, practically tripping over one another until they enter our new breakfast nook with butterscotch-stained hardwood floors. (Note: And my CA friends and family wonder how I can survive in Indiana!)

Anyway, we’re having fun whether or not this huge baby becomes our own. We have to sell our house first, and I won’t be doing the happy dance until we hand over the keys. We had the inspection the other day and we’re waiting for the report to see what we need to fix. Stay tuned for results!
